Features Of The Epic Pure And Epic Nano
The Epic Nano and the Epic Pur water filter pitchers share virtually the same features. Below, weve listed some of the features that both of these filters have in common.
Gravity Filter Design
Both Epic filters are gravity filters, meaning that they use gravity filtration to remove contaminants from water. Water flows from the top reservoir to the bottom reservoir, passing through a filter in the process.

The Epic Pure and the Epic Nano filter jugs hold 1.5 liters of unfiltered water in the top reservoir and 2 liters of filtered water in the bottom reservoir, totalling just under 1 gallon.
BPA-Free Design
All the plastic parts in both water pitchers are entirely BPA-free, so they wont leach anything harmful into your water. The filters are 100% made in the USA.
LED Filter Timer
Both jugs come with an integrated LED filter life countdown timer, which counts down 90 days from the moment you install the filter, letting you know when the filter needs to be replaced.
Space-Saving Design
The Epic Pure and Epic Nano pitchers are both compact jugs that are designed to fit perfectly in your refrigerator.
High-Performance Filter
Though the filters vary in what they can remove, both the Epic Pure and the Epic Nano filter are highly capable, each removing more than 200 contaminants.

Home Master RO
Reverse osmosis is one of the best ways on how to remove fluoride from water .
And to no surprise, in does reverse osmosis remove fluoride the reverse osmosis filter was shown to reduce fluoride levels from 0.6 ppm to 0.0 ppm.
But putting aside its amazing water quality, the best part about a traditional reverse osmosis system is that once you install it, you dont have to do anything .
All you have to do is turn on the tap and youll have filtered water, whenever you want it. Plus you get the water extremely fast. For example, it takes about 30 seconds to fill up an entire kettle .
However there are endless amounts of options to choose from, so its not easy choosing between reverse osmosis filters. But after years of being in this field, its clear that reverse osmosis filters from Home Master are a very good choice.
In fact, before I chose Home Master I bought another brand but quickly returned it because it started to leak. Which is common with certain brands .
So in other words, if youre looking for the best, this is it
And the models I recommend are Home Master Ultra if youre filtering well water and Home Master Iron if youre filtering city tap water.

Refrigerator Filters Do They Remove Fluoride
Most refrigerator filters use activated carbon which is ineffective at removing fluoride.
Refrigerator filters do not remove fluoride from water. Most of these filters use activated carbon to purify water. Activated carbon is only partially effective at reducing fluoride concentrations. A typical refrigerator filter might remove 2 to 5% of the fluoride hardly enough to make a difference.
Some refrigerator filters only have particle filters. These filters are designed to remove particles and turbidity from your water. They do not remove fluoride or other chemicals from the water.
How To Measure Fluoride Levels In Your Water

The easiest way to measure fluoride levels in your water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware or home improvement store. These kits typically use a simple drop-test method to measure the fluoride levels in your water.
To use the kit, you will first need to collect a sample of your tap water in a clean container. Once you have collected the water, follow the instructions that come with the kit to add the appropriate number of drops of test solution.
After the test solution has been added, compare the color of the water to the color chart included with the kit. The kit will provide you with an estimate of the fluoride levels in your water based on the color match.
If you are concerned about high fluoride levels in your water, contact your local water utility for more information.
If you suspect that your water may have high fluoride levels, the best way to confirm this is to have a lab test done. Ask your local government or environmental protection agency for a list of labs in your area that can perform water testing.
While there may be some initial cost involved, this is the most accurate method for measuring fluoride levels in your water. Once you have the test results, you can take steps to filter out the fluoride if necessary.
There are a few different ways to measure the fluoride levels in your water. The most popular method is to use a test strip.
These strips are easy to use and relatively inexpensive, making them an excellent option for many people.

What Does Fluoride Do In Drinking Water
Fluoride provides a protective barrier against acid-producing bacteria present in our water supply. When fluoride becomes chemically incorporated, it reduces the incidence of dental decay by approximately 25% for children and adults.
Drinking fluoridated water helps remove plaque-forming bacteria from tooth enamel that cause painful infections and lead to severe gum diseases.
Fluoride was first added to drinking water in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1945 after scientists discovered its remineralizing effect. The US Public Health Service endorsed Community water fluoridation in 1950.
In 1960, community water fluoridation became a policy. In the years since then, many communities have adopted water fluoridation to improve oral health.
Is Fluoride Bad For You
In low levels, fluoride is thought to be good for dental health and neither good nor bad for the human body.
There is science linked to the benefits of fluoride, but there are also plenty of potential health risks that come from exposing ourselves to fluoride in drinking water at home.
So, is fluoride bad for you? According to organizations like the EPA, no. Water with a low fluoride content shouldnt be dangerous but many people disagree.
The available information about fluoridation of water is frustratingly limited, so most information that follows is based on emerging evidence. Do your own research if youre keen to learn more about whether your region adds fluoride to your water source.

Why Nsf Certifications Are Important
If you are evaluating other Reverse Osmosis water filter systems, be sure to ask if the filters have certifications for 42, 53 & 58 by NSF which is an independent third party tester. Also, ask for a copy of the test report. The report will show you what percentage of each contaminant the filter removes.
Some systems aren’t as effective as others. We selected this RO system as the best because it had three certifications by a third party and the test results were better than other systems tested. We’ve read hundreds of test reports and this filter’s results really stood out. View the test report at the bottom of this page.
How Pfas Pfos And Pfoa Enter The Water Supply
There are several ways to come into contact with PFAS. This could happen if you drink PFAS-contaminated water or eat PFAS-contaminated food. Exposure can also occur as a result of using PFAS-containing items or through public water systems and drinking water from wells.
PFAS water contamination is most commonly connected with areas close to a specific facility, such as an industrial site where PFAS were used to make other products and firefighting locations like oil refineries and airfields.
In fact, PFAS contamination is an urgent problem across the U.S. because of the use of PFAS in fire-fighting foam. Especially on and around military bases and airports.
Concerningly, PFAS is toxic and is currently estimated to contaminate the drinking water of nearly 110 million Americans.

Ph Restore Glass Alkaline Water Filter Pitcher
With a 3.5-liter capacity and a filter life of nearly 100 gallons, the pH Restore glass alkaline water filter pitcher is a great product, though its not one of our favorites. Still, it does provide better filtration than many alternatives, removing fluoride, chloramine, and chlorine from your water for a safer, healthier drinking experience. Your satisfaction is even guaranteed or you can get your money back.
More than just filtering your water, this pitcher filter also alkalizes it. It boosts the pH of your water up to 10 and adds back in vital minerals including calcium and selenium. But even with the added minerals, the water from this filter doesnt taste as good as the water filtered through other pitchers.
One of the biggest issues we have with this pitcher is its lack of durability. The handle is a weak point and it tends to crack from stress where it meets the pitcher. There also seems to be a problem with mold forming on the lid, even though its supposed to be made with anti-mold bamboo.
- The anti-mold lid doesnt prevent mold
- Water flavor isnt great through this filter
- The handle cracked from stress

Fluoride In Drinking Water Controversy
The fluoridation of public water is controversial because it may be an unnecessary additive. Fluoride has been deliberately added to several municipal water supplies for over sixty years now. The communicated reason fluoride was and is added to public water was to improve the dental health of the public, which then, in turn, improves the overall health. Fluoride indeed does improve the health of teeth, however, there are other means of using fluoride for health benefits. Consuming it in drinking water is not the only way to get it into the human body, in fact, drinking it may be the cause of adverse health effects. Small doses in toothpaste, mouth rinse, etc, that are then spat out, provide the benefits of strengthening tooth enamel, without the detriments of deteriorating bones by drinking an unknown dosage.
One claim against adding fluoride to public water is the belief that it is mass-medicating a population without consent. Fluoride is added for health reasons, not for disinfecting, such as the addition of chlorine to water. For this reason, speculators question how can the dosage be measured? Medications are prescribed by a case-by-case basis, based on weight, age, and other factors. Additives not taking those characteristics into consideration could be dangerous and cause serious harm. It also doesn’t account for high-consumption water users, such as athletes, laborers, or those with kidney diseases. The more water drank equals the more fluoride consumed.
Should I Remove Fluoride From Water
Though drinking water sources dont contain a large amount of fluoride, according to some evidence, it may still be enough to negatively affect your health. For many people, this evidence is enough to put them off drinking public water entirely and search for a fluoride-free solution.
If youre currently spending hundreds of dollars a month on bottled water for your family because youre concerned about tap water fluoride intake, its worth considering one of the water products mentioned on this list for producing fluoride-free water.
Youll be able to save money by drinking pure water directly from the water supply in your home, and youll have peace of mind that youre looking after the health of yourself and your children. While you may well still enjoy fluorides oral health benefits by using fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash, youll know that you wont be consuming it in your water.

This Ro System Remineralizes Your Water
Some have expressed concern that the effectiveness of RO filters causes them to remove some desirable minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium from your drinking water.
To counteract this, Aquasana includes a remineralization component after the RO filter that adds these desirable minerals back into your filtered water.
If you’d prefer not to have an RO system remove and then remineralize your water, you have other options that are highly effective at removing contaminants. Check out the Propur Promax Countertop and Propur Promax Under Counter Water Filter Systems. These water filters perform as well as an RO system with a much lower cost. Learn more here.
What Does Not Remove Fluoride From Water

After conducting hundreds if not thousands of fluoride tests, Ive come to the realization much of the information online is outdated and misleading.
I say this because certain methods that claim to remove fluoride actually dont or dont remove all fluoride, and many water filter companies lie about their filter removing fluoride.
Heres a summary of what will NOT remove fluoride from your water:
- Water filter pitchers: only a few are able to remove fluoride.
- Boiling water: test results have shown no change in fluoride levels before and after boiling.
- Tulsi or Holy Basil: using these herbs may reduce fluoride from high to acceptable levels but if youre looking to have fluoride-free water, this will not work. As my own tests have shown fluoride content of 0.6 ppm before and after the use of these herbs.
- Refrigerator filters: Ive yet to test one that can remove fluoride.
- Faucet filters: test results were 0.6 ppm before and after filtering.
- Shower filters: test results were 0.6 ppm before and after filtering.
