A Guide To Richmond’s Splash Parks

Waterslides at RULANTICA Waterpark

My children love playing at splash parks in the summer, and it’s such an easy way to have a free, outdoor outing and to cool off. Luckily, Richmond, Virginia has five splash parks that are perfect for children and families – I’ve seen all ages cooling off at these spots! Four of the five splash parks are inside of Henrico County parks, so you can visit the playground and splash park in one visit. One is located inside Stony Point Fashion Park, so you can visit it during mall hours.

These splash parks are always open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Depending on weather, they will sometimes open early or extend their season in the fall.

The best part? All five of these Richmond area splash parks are open to the public for free!

Here’s what you need to know about our local Richmond splash parks:

1. Dunncroft Castle Point Park: This is my children’s favorite splash park because it has so many unique water features. There’s a frog structure to run through, a spinning water spout and lots of lower pressure spouts .

Heads Up: This is a very popular splash park. Usually, the parks clear out between 11:45-2, but at our last visit, this park had a steady crowd.

Nearby: This park is located in Glen Allen in front of Hungary Springs Middle School. Crumbl Cookie is 5 minutes away, and Starbucks with a drive thru is 5 minutes away.

*Check here for more details on this park.

Story times meet at Fairfield Area Library throughout the week:

Mondays: Baby Songs and Stories are at 10

Why We Report On Water Quality

The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act requires water utilities to provide consumers with a yearly report on the source and quality of the water they drink. You may also find our Water Quality Reports on this page.

The state allows us to monitor for some substances less than once per year because the concentrations of these substances do not change frequently.

The Virginia Department of Health conducted a source water assessment of our system during 2002. The Richmond Water Treatment Plant was determined to be of high susceptibility to contamination, using criteria developed by the state in its EPA-approved Source Water Assessment Program. The assessment report consists of maps showing the source water assessment area, an inventory of known land use activities of concern, and documentation of any known contamination within the last five years from the date of assessment. This report is available by contacting the Department of Public Utilities at 646-5777.

Water Safety Instruction Classes

To prepare for the summer the department offers Swim Smarts – safety instruction classes for youth enrolled in the department’s Great Summer Escape Summer Camp.

Additionally, Lifeguard training classes are offered several times prior to the start of the summer swim season, for more information call 646-1174.
