Upper Ocoee Whitewater Rafting
Upper Ocoee whitewater rafting starts out below Ocoee Dam #3. This section of river is de-watered all but 34 days per year, so theres a lot of tree growth in the Ocoee riverbed. The first 1.5 miles are relatively easy, class II+ at the hardest, giving the Ocoee white water rafting crew a good chance to learn how to paddle together. This upper portion of the river is also among the most scenic sections of the Ocoee.
Once you get to Class IV Mikeys Ledge , the exciting portion of your Ocoee whitewater rafting trip will really begin. After Mikeys youll move down into Lets make a Deal , followed by the Blue Hole, a great Class IV warm up for the main event of your Ocoee white water rafting trip the Olympic Course, home to the 1996 Whitewater Canoe/Kayak Slalom Olympic Events.
After the quarter mile, continuous class IV Olympic Course, highlighted by Godzilla and Humongous, two back to back raft eating hydraulics, the Upper Ocoee isnt quite done with you yet you still have to try to check out of the class IV Roach Motel. Following Roach Motel, well stop for a couple more surfs, and maybe a swim before reaching the Upper Ocoee River takeout.
Middle Ocoee whitewater rafting is always a crowd pleaser. Consisting of 5 miles of continuous class IV whitewater and running 5 days a week from Memorial to Labor Day the Middle Ocoee River is one of the most popular white water rafting destinations in the entire world.

Meet The Rapids Of The Ocoee River
Meet the rapids on our Ocoee River guided rafting trips. Well introduce you. But be warned you will get wet!
The Ocoee River was named in native Cherokee for the purple passionflower. Like its namesake, its a fast flowing vine of the Hiwassee. So fast that it gained international fame for hosting the 1996 Olympic canoeing slalom competitions. It boasts one of the most enjoyable whitewater runs in the United States, with 250,000 visitors a year and several miles of constant class III and IV rapids.
Bring your family and friends who are 12 years old and up for the time of your lives. The Ocoee is a true challenge for people who dont want a calm, gliding ride, and we help as many people enjoy it as possible. But, Its Not For Everyone
Dusty Rogers guiding a raft through Hells Hole on the Ocoee River.
You dont just float through the middle Ocoee. The class three and four rapids in the Ocoee are tough to get over, or around, and once youre inside one they can quickly take control if you arent paddling. But dont worry, the powerful currents and surf are no match for our expert guides who steer your raft around tight ledges and hydraulics to help you out-paddle the big waves.
Plus the water isnt too rough Its just enough!

Solo Rafting & Kayaking
For more experienced white water rafters, solo kayaking can be a thrilling way to challenge your skill level and reach new heights of adventure. Several types of kayaks are available on the market to perfectly suit your preferences and river runs. One type of kayak for this is called a duck and is an inflatable kayak for one rider. It is meant for more moderate rapids only. For rapids of higher intensity, a hard-sided kayak or canoe made from plastic or fiber-glass is needed. This should only be attempted once you have reached an appropriate level of knowledge and experience and are equipped to scout, read the water well and able to master safe bailing techniques.

Georgia Rafting Lover What To Wear When You Come White Water Rafting
For the summer shorts or a bathing suit or swim trunks and a T-shirt are best. Shoes that will stay on your feet are required, which can be river sandals, old tennis shoes, or nylon topped water shoes. No Flip Flops or other shoes that wont stay on your feet for rafting the Ocoee River!
For the cooler weather we recommend synthetic fabrics such as polypropylene or nylon or synthetic fleece. We have some spray gear to keep off the splash and if it is really cold we have wet suits at the outpost all free to our guest.
Your Raft Is Built For The Demands Of White Water Rafting On The Ocoee
Your craft is made of an extremely tough fabric created with PVC plastic. Its air is held inside an inner chamber, so even a puncture of the outer shell wont deflate the raft.
Additionally the raft is divided into 9 separate air compartments. If one of them deflates, the remaining air inside the raft stays put. Your raft is even self-bailing, which means when the Ocoees waves fill it up after a rapid, we dont have to bail out the water. Thats important, because rapids like Grumpy wont give you time to think about anything but holding on and paddling hard!
